Today, representatives of the European Movement in Serbia held a meeting with 50 students who competed in the contest “Travelling to Europe 2017” ahead of their trip to Berlin.

The 13th edition of the contest, aimed at final year university students with an average grade above 8.5, was organised by the European Movement in Serbia, Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Balkan Trust for Democracy.

At the meeting held at the EU Info Centre, the students signed agreements granting them pocket money, provided through the Raiffeisen bank pay cards, Interrail passes and travel insurance policies for their trip to Berlin where they will participate in a three-day programme together with students from the rest of the region.

On 23 July, just ahead of their journey, they will be given 22-day Interrail passes.

Representative of the EU Delegation to Serbia Ramunas Janušauskas said that it was a good thing to let young people learn more about Europe by travelling through it.

“This is your time, enjoy it,” he said and reminded them of their responsibility to represent Serbia and to tell their friends and families what they saw on their journey.

Speaking about youth mobility, he said that one of the recommendations of the Youth Forum, which took place in the framework of the Western Balkans Summit in Trieste, was to further develop youth mobility through exchange schemes in order to encourage young people to travel to other countries and forge bonds in the region.
