Director General for Enlargement in the European Commission Christian Danielsson will visit Serbia on 11 and 12 October, to meet Serbian officials and discuss Serbia’s progress in the accession negotiations.

“Serbia is firmly on its European path, it has opened 10 negotiating chapters and we hope to see more chapters open before the end of the year. The aim of my visit is to discuss progress and next steps ahead of us with Serbian authorities. I am also looking forward to meeting local authorities in Kragujevac and Knic, but above all to hear and experience the views of farmers, hunters and ordinary citizens about their future in the European Union,” Danielsson said ahead of his visit.

Christian Danielsson will spend most of 11 October in Kragujevac and Knic, where he is expected to meet with local authorities and visit an EU funded project aimed at empowering and increasing education opportunities for Roma children. He will also visit the Women’s Monastery of Grncarica, as well as a farming cooperative and a hunters’ association.

On 12 October, Christian Danielsson will open the Belgrade Security Forum, before holding a series of meetings with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic and Minister of Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic, and the Ombudsman Zoran Pasalic. Christian Danielsson will also meet His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej.
