The Embassy of Slovakia opened its doors to citizens and presented its traditional cuisine, clothing and music as well as the naïve art of the municipality of Kovacica, home to members of Slovak national minority in Serbia.

Slovak Embassy organised the Open Doors Day in cooperation with the EU Info Centre, the Faculty of Applied Arts and the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Design High School, Bibian and the municipality of Kovacica.

Welcoming the guests, Slovak Ambassador to Serbia Dagmar Repčeková said that the Embassy had established cooperation with the Children’s Shelter and would donate the proceeds gathered from selling food and drinks at symbolic prices to that children’s institution.

“Draw your dream” was the title of the contest aimed at children. The kids were invited to draw on concrete, cardboard or face using coloured chalk. The best drawings will be featured in the exhibition organised by the Slovak Embassy together with UNICEF Office in Belgrade.

Also, children enjoyed watching cartoons and animated feature films.

As for adults, the Embassy offered a cultural and artistic programme featuring the works of the famous naïve women painters from Kovacica.

The guests had a chance to get to know Slovakia better by enjoying a glass of Slovak beer, tasting the barbeque and playing games of chance.
