The European Union Delegation to Serbia, the European Western Balkans portal and the EU Info Center organized the following of the results of the European Parliament elections. In a welcoming speech, the head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Ambassador Sam Fabrizi, said that the elections are a celebration of European democracy.

“The European Parliament is the only European institution directly elected by citizens, it exists not only to elect a new commission, but also to monitor whether other institutions function in a democratic way, whether human rights are respected. These are the first elections for those who were born in 2000 or 2001 and it is very important to listen to their views on the future of Europe,” said Ambassador Fabrizi.

He added that in the future, Serbian citizens will also elect their representatives in the parliament who will meet in Strasbourg and Brussels.

Preliminary results are good for the European perspective of Serbia, said Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic.


“I think that the results show that for the citizens of the Union, Europe is still fashionable and that the EU did not fall into oblivion, but that they are very interested and agile, although different countries have dealt with different topics in the election campaign,” the minister concluded.
