Should Western Balkans countries access the EU jointly or independently, was the issue discussed by the best attendees of the Spring Debate School, organised by the EU Info Centre, academic debate network Open Communication, and BEUM student association.

Jury composed of the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport, Chairperson of the European integration parliamentary committee Aleksandar Senić and Helena Ivanov of Open Communication, supported the team stating each of the Western Balkan countries should access the EU independently.

To support their standpoint, the proponents of joint accession listed arguments such as the successful cooperation of the Visegrad Group, the joint accession of 10 countries in 2004, as well as the current economic crisis within the EU and urgent need for stabilisation.
