The “They Are Heroes” competition ended with the announcement of the most prominent individuals during the pandemic proposed by their fellow citizens, friends or family. Fifteen heroes with the largest number of votes on the site onisuheroji.rs were awarded airline tickets to European Union countries.

The competition, organized by the Delegation of the European Union, attracted a large number of applications from more than 30 cities and towns in Serbia. In the end, 100 heroic stories were successfully registered, but many others, who did not fulfill the formal conditions of the competition, showed selfless energy and commitment to the community and thus deserve attention and gratitude.

“He selflessly helped us by delivering groceries and medicines. Every day, in the rain and snow weather conditions, he helped elderly people who were in quarantine. That is to be commended when there are such wonderful young people. ”

“My sister is a hero! Thank you for every day when she risked working in the laboratory, for the courage she showed to patients, family, friends, for selfless support to everyone she was in contact with, for the kind words and comfort she sent to everyone. ”

“In addition to numerous obligations, she successfully overcomes everyday new obligations and all obstacles that come her way. A special reason why I am applying for the competition is that during the pandemic, she provided free online help to students of all ages and students from different cities who sought her help after it was published on social networks. ”

These are just some of the thanks given to the main characters of the little stories of great courage.

That is why, due to exceptional stories and a large number of proposals for heroes who arrived during the campaign, the EU Delegation to Serbia decided to expand the circle of winners for five more heroes, because solidarity is one of the fundamental values of the European Union since its founding.

The 15 winners of the competition will receive two airline tickets each, and we owe a great deal of gratitude to Air Serbia, the partner of the EU Delegation in this project.

Among the applicants are volunteers, vendors, neighbors, distance teachers, police officers, soldiers, doctors, vendors, husbands, wives, grandparents. In the midst of the corona virus epidemic, they continued to work, making life easier for their fellow citizens and alleviating the difficult period we all went through with small and large, but above all brave deeds.

These are the winning heroes:

We thank all the participants for their interest and sent suggestions, and especially the heroes who were a great help and support within their communities and who made life easier for many fellow citizens during the pandemic – THANK YOU.
