Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met today with Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi. A statement from the President’s Office reads that the two discussed Serbia’s European path and the overall situation in the region.

President Vucic said that Serbia was working intensively to implement its European agenda with a view to opening new negotiating chapters. They agreed that Serbia should work more vigorously on chapters 23 and 24. Underlying the importance of the internal dialogue, which he had himself initiated, Serbian President said that hearing everyone’s opinion was important in order to have an honest exchange of views. He reiterated that Serbia would continue to pursue a responsible policy so as to contribute to regional cooperation and stability.

They also discussed the new EU enlargement strategy, describing it as a good sign for the Western Balkan countries.

Head of the EU Delegation Sem Fabrizi said that Serbia was one of the countries that are at the forefront of the European integration process. He said the first half of 2018 would be rather important in terms of speeding up the country’s EU accession. “We need a strong Europe and partners that can make it even stronger, and Serbia will definitely be part of the solution,“ said Head of the EU Delegation Sem Fabrizi, reads the statement released from the President Vucic’s Office.
