At the hotel ORION in Ormanica near Srebrenik, from 8 to 12 January, “ECO CAMP TUZLA 2014” took place and 27 high school students from Uzice and Tuzla participated in it.

Camp is a part of the project “Primary waste selection in primary and high schools in Uzice and Tuzla“ within Cross-border Cooperation Programme Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

High school students from Uzice and Tuzla qualified for the participation in the camp by showing the greatest knowledge in the field of ecology at the eco quiz. Students stayed at the camp, accompanied by coordinators of environmental sections from their schools.

In addition to educational and recreational character that this five-day camp has, students also enriched their knowledge on environmental protection with student visits to the factory for selection of municipal waste at the city dump Desetine in Tuzla, as well as to the headquarters of the company KEMIS from Lukavica, which deals with the management of hazardous waste.

At student trips participants had the opportunity to learn more about treatment of different types of waste.

Socialising was marked by the gesture of Armin Bjelic, a student of High School of Mechanical Engineering, who, together with another 27 high school students from Uzice and Tuzla, participated in the work of Eco Camp “Tuzla 2014” and who sent a letter to the citizens of Uzice due to the problems caused by the lack of drinking water. It greatly reflects the atmosphere of the camp and the atmosphere characteristic for the Cross-border Cooperation Programme Serbia – Bosnia and Herzegovina (2nd call), that takes place in the interval February 2013 – April 2014.
