Organic production will be the focus of Bačka and Osijek-Baranja districts for the next two years, and the centre of new knowledge and innovations in this type of agriculture will be the research and development center in Selenča, developed as a part of the project “Organic Bridge.”

Centre for Organic Production Selenča’s “Organic Bridge” project is one of the 24 projects supported by the EU within the program “Intereg IPA cross-border cooperation  Croatia-Serbia 2014-2020.” The project was developed by the town Valpovo and the “Tera tehnopolis” organization based in Osijek, as Croatian partners, and the Center for Organic Production Selenča (COPS) and “Teras” from Subotica, as Serbian partners. Project will be executed through numerous activities in the next 24 months, starting June 15 this year.

The research and development center in Selenča will have a platform for education of pupils, students and researchers, and will include cooperation of producers and researchers, as well as study and improvement of organic production for existing and potential producers and consumers of organic products. On the other hand, The Centre for Organic Production Selenča will share their experience and knowledge with Croatian partners, through support in founding of a similar center in Valpovo, as well as research, training and brand creation.

The goal of the “Organic Bridge” project is also to make a contribution to the greater market competitiveness of Osijek-Baranja, North and South Bačka districts through development of new and improvement of existing products, services and brands in organic production.
