Ten families from the collective centre TE-TO Kolubara and two socially vulnerable local families moved into their new homes within the EU project “For a better life“ – Support to improvement of living conditions of forced migrants and closure of collective centres”.
Eight apartments in a social housing building and four prefabricated houses, all equipped with basic furniture and appliances, have been constructed on the location provided by the municipality of Ub.
The keys were handed to the families by the EU Delegation to Serbia representative Brigitte Kuchar, Ub Municipality President Darko Glisic and delegates to the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia and organisation HELP.
Within the EU support project, a total of 31 housing solutions will provided in Ub, worth roughly EUR500 000.
The goal of the project is the integration of forced migrants who have decided to stay in Serbia, through ensuring adequate living conditions, and to support the closure of the remaining collective centres through the provision of adequate housing solutions and improvement of living conditions of the most vulnerable refugees and IDPs.
The project is part of the wider EU support programme aimed at improving living conditions of forced migrants “For a better life” worth EUR14.2 million.
