The EU Delegation to the Republic of Serbia donated 50 scholarly publications published by prestigious European universities and renowned publishers to the University Library Nikola Tesla in Nis.

“I am aware that the University Library Nikola Tesla in Nis is an important place where students, young people and the general public seek information on the EU. I am therefore very happy to know that the latest scientific literature penned by European authors and published by European publishing houses will be at disposal of all citizens from now on,” Ambassador Michael Davenport Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia said while presenting the donation to Nikola Tesla University Library.

Professor Zoran Zivkovic, the Director of the University Library in Nis thanked for the donation and reminded that the Library has been successfully cooperating with the EU Delegation for the past 15 years.

The same set of books will be donated to the Library of the Faculty of Political Sciences and the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, the Library of Matica Srpska in Novi Sad, as well as the University Library in Kragujevac. The enrichment of University Library holdings is part of the initiative spearheaded by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia aimed at supporting the academic community and bringing it closer to new research trends in the fields of law, economy, security and other relevant social sciences.

The donation is part of the project EUTEKA – The EU at your library www.euinfo.rs/euteka.

In 2013, users area of the Library and the unique computer centre of the University Library  (JUNIS) were reconstructed and refurbished through the EU HETIP project aimed at improving higher education infrastructure in Serbia.
