The Pulse of Europe – Media Trips to EU project organises an online debate entitled “European media and the Western Balkans” that would gather journalists from European countries and Serbia discussing how the media in the EU report on the Western Balkans and its European integration process. The debate is being organised in the cooperation with the Euractiv.com web portal and EU Info Centre in Belgrade, with the aim to bring both the EU and the process of European integration closer to the public.
It will be held on the Zoom platform, on Wednesday, 12 May 2021, starting at 12:00.
Panellists at the debate will be Sarantis Michalopoulos, editor of the Euractiv.com web portal, Marion Dautry, AFP Belgrade bureau journalist, Dragan Blagojević, Beta News Agency Brussels correspondent and Dušan Gajić, Radio-television of Serbia correspondent from Brussels. .
The Western Balkans countries are on the path to the integration into the European Union. How challenging is it for journalists to enter the “Brussels bubble” and report on the enlargement process? How high on the agenda of the European media is the Western Balkans as a region with several candidate countries? The online debate will address these topics. The event will be live streamed on the Facebook page of the project, as well as on the Facebook page of the EU in Serbia, with simultaneous translation provided.
