On the occasion of the ceremony of 2012 Nobel Peace prize awarded to the European Union, the EU Info Centre with the support of the EU Delegation to Republic of Serbia and in cooperation with the European Movement in Serbia’s (EMINS) Novi Sad branch, organises a debate on whether the European Union is an (un) finished project and whether the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the EU is really a prize or more like a consolation.
The debate will be held in Novi Sad on Monday, December 10th in Radio-television of Vojvodina concert hall (Studio M) starting at 17:00.
The EU Delegation to the Republic of Serbia, HE ambassador Mr Vincent Degert, EPUS president Mr Vlastimir Matejic, University of Belgrade professors Ms Tanja Miscevic and Mr Nikola Samardzic, historien Mr Cedomir Antic as well as journalist Dimitrije Boarov will participate in the debate.
An exhibition of children drawings on subject “What peace in Europe means to me?” will be opened after the debate in the main hall of the RTV building. The exhibition consists of more than 50 drawings of Belgrade pupils who have participated in the EU contest whose main prize was trip to Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony in Oslo.
By organising the debate, the EU Info Centre and EMINS Novi Sad branch want to emphasise contributions of the European Union to the durable peace in the Old Continent as well as to open a public debate in Serbia about Union’s future. The EU Info Centre continues with the activities dedicated to the Nobel Prize Award, one of which was organisation of children drawing for trip to Oslo. The debate is also one of the events by which European Movement in Serbia – Novi Sad marks 20 years since EMINS has been founded.
