Eleventh Belgrade Dance Festival, which takes place from March 30th to April 14th, supported by the EU Delegation to Republic of Serbia and by Republic of Greece, will host some of the world’s most famous ballet and dance companies from the UK, Italy, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, USA etc.

“I am proud to announce that the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia is once again supporting the Belgrade Dance Festival, which has for eleven years been putting Serbia into the centre of the European cultural scene of art and dance.

We will remember 2014 as a very special year during which we promoted the relations between Serbia and European Union and opened accession negotiations with Serbia. This means that Serbia will, with its unique culture, enrich the common, colourful cultural heritage of all our Member States. Dance and music, presented by the Belgrade Dance Festival, are an essential part of our common European culture and an expression of its diversity and creativity”, pointed out the Ambassador Michael Davenport, Head of the EU Delegation.

Belgrade Dance Festival, which became a global brand and occupied a prominent position among the European and world best festivals is supported by EU Delegation for the second time. The Republic of Greece, the country presiding the Council of European Union, also supported the festival. By organising this festival, Belgrade is once again in the centre of world’s dance scene, and as always, it will promote the values of European Union: multiculturalism, diversity, tolerance, and exchange of ideas among artists.

In 2006 UNESCO declared Belgrade Dance Festival a leading dance project in the Southeast region and the festival got admitted to the World Dance Alliance.

“Gustavia” is a show that brings Matilda Monier and La Robota, while a troupe from Australia, created by Australian choreographer Sean Parker brings the performance of “Happy as Larry”. With a story about Sicily, Italy presents “Instrument 1“, while the “ShadowPlay” is an homage to the unique relationship between the Augsburg Theatre Ballet Company and the Israeli choreographer with a permanent address in Netherlands – Itzik Galili.

We’ll be witnessing the very first, historical visit of the Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Belgrade and Novi Sad, and they will be performing “Minus One” by Ohad Naharin, which will for certain enter every contemporary dance anthology.

Visitors can expect world première during the Belgrade Dance Festival: the play “Wisteria Maiden”, created by one of the most popular choreographers our time, Andonis Foniadakis.
