The Delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgets will be visiting Belgrade on 17-18 July 2017 to make sure EU funding is spent efficiently in Serbia, to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of structures set up and tasked with planning and implementation of pre-accession funds as well as to evaluate Serbia’s plans to maintain administrative capacity in this area.

On the first day of the visit, the Delegation will meet with representatives of the State Audit Institution, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of European Integration and the EU Delegation to Serbia. The meetings will discuss numerous projects funded through EU’s pre-accession funds (IPA), with a particular focus on areas related to pre-accession assistance management and capacity building as well as projects supporting the development of SMEs in Serbia.

On the second day of the visit, the Delegation will visit several EU-funded projects in Belgrade and Obrenovac and will then hold a press conference to wrap up its conclusions.

Following the visit to Serbia, the EP Delegation will travel to Croatia to visit various projects funded through IPA and structural funds and get acquainted with Croatia’s plans to increase its administrative capacity.
