A new call for project proposals is open under the Human Rights, Democracy and Civil Society Programme for Serbia 2024–2025, with a total budget of EUR 7,550,000. This programme is part of the European Union’s long-term support to strengthening fundamental rights, the rule of law, and participatory democracy in Serbia.
Objective of the Call
- To promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms, the rule of law, justice, good governance and democracy, as well as to support the process of EU integration and alignment in Serbia through enhanced engagement of civil society organisations.
Call Priorities
- To contribute to expanding the space for civil society by providing holistic support to human rights defenders and promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms;
- To strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations in advocacy and addressing issues related to the right to a fair trial, transitional justice, reconciliation, anti-corruption, access to justice, protection of personal data, legal aid, and freedom of assembly;
- To enhance the capacity of civil society organisations to engage in public policy reforms and Serbia’s EU accession process by addressing topics such as good governance and democracy at central and local levels, digital surveillance, artificial intelligence, transparency, accountability, public participation, youth development, enabling environment for CSOs, social entrepreneurship, election monitoring, civic participation, active citizenship, and culture.
