A European Union Civil Protection Team has arrived in Belgrade to assist the Serbian authorities in their response to the wide scale flooding. The main task of the team is to support the coordination of the incoming assistance from the EU. They will be working closely with the Sector for Emergency Management in the Ministry of Interior, local rescue agencies, and the United Nations.

The team arrived to Belgrade late evening 17 May and has now established a base of operations in the Emergency Management Sector’s offices in the Ministry of Interior in Belgrade. A number of EU countries are currently providing assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

The EU is also providing assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. An EU Civil Protection team will arrive in the country today.
