EU regrets ban of action “7000”

The initiative by civil society organisations to mark the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide with an action -“7000″ – in central Belgrade was very much to be welcomed.

The organisers co-operated with the authorities over the security and other aspects of staging this commemorative event. It is therefore to be regretted that security considerations related to other events on the same day and possible violence by others should have led to the banning of a peaceful commemoration by ordinary citizens.”
