Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi with whom he spoke about the recent developments in Kosovo and Metohija and the process of European integration of Serbia.
A statement released by the President’s Cabinet said that President Vucic “warned of consequences caused by Pristina’s reckless move and the decision to increase taxes on goods imported from Serbia which violates the CEFTA agreement.” He said he hoped the EU would step up its efforts and make Pristina revoke its unilateral decision that threatens peace and stability in the region and makes the risk of conflict escalation more imminent.
President Vucic pointed out that Serbia would work on its European agenda with a view to making swifter progress toward EU membership.
Ambassador Fabrizi recalled the views put forward by EU High Representative who stated that such a decision violates the CEFTA agreement and goes against the spirit of SAA, and should thus be revoked. Ambassador Fabrizi underlined the need to maintain peace and stability in the region and stay on the course of EU accession. He also pointed out that any issues should be resolved through peaceful and meaningful means, that is through dialogue which the EU facilitates and is committed to,” the statement read.
