
H.E. Andreas von Beckerath
Ambassador and Head of Delegation of European Union to the Republic of Serbia
Andreas von Beckerath has been appointed the EU Ambassador to Serbia in August 2025.
He took this position after serving as the Ambassador of Sweden to Poland. Prior to that, he held several high-ranking positions at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Director-General and Head of the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and Acting Head of the Department for Conflict and Humanitarian Affairs.
von Beckerath also served as the Swedish Ambassador to Ukraine, as well as Deputy Head of Mission at the Swedish Embassy in London and Political Counsellor at the Embassy in Berlin. Earlier in his diplomatic career, he held posts in Moscow, Bucharest and at the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations in New York. He also worked as European Correspondent at the Swedish MFA.
Ambassador von Beckerath holds a B.Sc. in Business, Russian and Central European Studies from Uppsala University.
He is fluent in Swedish, English, German and Russian, with working knowledge of French and basic proficiency in Polish and Dutch.
He is married and a father of two.
