Following yesterday’s attack on Mariupol and the escalation of violence in the Donbas Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, decided to convene extraordinary Foreign Affairs Council this coming Thursday, 29 January, in Brussels.
The High Representative is in close contact with the President of the European Council Donald Tusk, President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, the Member States and international partners. She has spoken on the phone to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko (LINK)
Today she spoke to Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov, conveying the messages from her yesterday’s statement (LINK).
