EU High Representative Catherine Ashton hailed agreement between Belgrade and Pristina on energy arrangements and an action plan on its implementation, saying she expected the steps to promote power supply to all citizens, her spokesperson said in a statement.

“High Representative Catherine Ashton welcomes this week’s signing of an agreement by the Power Transmission Companies KOSTT and EMS. Through this agreement between the Transmission System Operators energy relations between Pristina and Belgrade will be normalised, and KOSTT can play its role of managing the high-voltage networks in Kosovo,” the statement said.

“The High Representative commends the Energy Community Secretariat for supporting the discussions between Transmission Companies,” it said.

“The two sides also approved the Action Plan to implement Arrangements on Energy, reached by the two Prime Ministers last year in the EU-facilitated dialogue for normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina.

“These steps are crucial for the implementation of Energy Arrangements; we expect they will promote a stable and secure power supply that all citizens deserve,” the statementsaid.
