According to FoNet news agency, European Bank for Construction and Development (EBRD) announced Thursday that it would finance the improvement of Belgrade water supply system through a EUR13 million loan.

Belgrade waterworks supplies water to million and a half users, so the agreement between EBRD and Belgrade waterworks will assist this public enterprise to improve its efficiency.

The loan will be granted in two tranches of EUR8.5 and EUR4.5 million euros.

The first tranche will be used for the construction of two new pipelines that would transfer water from the River Sava to Makis water plant, remove sediments from the main water tank, and transfer water from the well into existing water treatment plant.

Other loan tranche will be used to conduct a feasibility study as well as for the reconstruction of the Makis I water treatment plant.
