At the closing event of EU book stand within Belgrade Book Fair, Head of EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport said that over the past seven days, Serbian citizens had an opportunity to learn more about accession negotiations with the EU as well as major support the Union had provided to Serbia thus far.

“Fair’s visitors who have paid a visit to EU book stand, had an opportunity to learn more about the current events within EU-Serbia negotiations, EU-funded projects in Serbia, and the assistance Serbia has received from the EU following the floods as well as the assistance in facing the current migrant crisis,” said Ambassador Davenport in his address to EU book stand visitors.

Ljubica Markovic, Project Leader of the EU Info Centre, said that the EUIC Team hosted many visitors and handed out thousands of publications out of its rich fund of books and brochures.

“There are over 2,000 titles available at EU Info Centre in Dom omladine,” said Markovic and noted that the EU Info Centre would be moving to the new location this winter, to 7 Kralja Milana St. in Begrade.

Marina Rakic, Communication Officer at the EU Info Centre said that EU’s fourth participation in the International Book Fair brought 21 events, with more than 700 young people taking part in them.

Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia handed over letters of appreciation to partners who have actively supported the work of EU Info Centre in 60th Belgrade International Book Fair. Letters were presented to representatives of Government European Integration Office, Serbian EU Negotiating Team, Government Office for Reconstruction and Flood Relief, National Library of Serbia, European Movement in Serbia, Belgrade Open School, Centre for Promotion of Science, BUNT Festival and Camarata Serbica brass orchestra.

This year, Edina Szvoren from Hungary, one of the winners of European Literuture Prize, was the special guest of the EU book stand. Over the course of seven days, under the slogan “Books Connecting Europe,” more than 6,000 publications about the EU were handed out.
