The European Union closely follows the situation regarding floods in East Serbia, Delegation is in contact with relevant authorities of the Ministry of Interior and the Government of Serbia and stands ready to provide assistance, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport said.
Right now, the most important thing is to save lives and provide livelihood to those in danger, Davenport said during his visit to Golubac on the occasion of start of EU-funded Fortress reconstruction.
EU were among the first who offered and delivered assistance in the form of manpower, equipment and emergency supplies during and after May floods in Serbia, followed by an urgent provision of EUR30 million of IPA funds aimed at repairing flood-damaged houses, schools and infrastructure.
