U Delegation to Serbia, EU Info Centre in Belgrade and EU Info Point in Nis will mark European Anti-Trafficking Day, 18 October, by organising numerous activities aimed at raising public awareness on the issue of human trafficking, possibilities of prevention and helping the victims.

On the very Anti-Trafficking Day, on Saturday, 18 October at noon, in front of the shopping mall Kalca, EU Info Point Nis, in partnership with CSO “Centar za devojke” from Nis, organises street information campaign designed to inform citizens of Nis on European Union Strategy and other measures taken to prevent trafficking in human beings.

In Belgrade, on Tuesday, 21 October, at 13h, Dom omladine will host a EU Info centre-supported debate “Biases against victims of human trafficking” which will be participated in by representatives of German organisation for international cooperation GIZ, Office for human and minority rights and other experts.

Goal of the debate is to encourage critical thinking and experience exchange among professionals, as well as to discuss barriers and difficulties faced by victims due to biases against them.

In January 2011, GIZ launched a regional project “Social protection and prevention of human trafficking”. Project is implemented in cooperation with Office for human and minority rights and its goal is to understand human trafficking as a social problem faced by all countries in the region and foster another perspective on this issue.

A workshop will be organised on Thursday, 23 October, at 14h, in the premises of EU Info Point Nis, on the subject of “Prevention of trafficking in human beings”, intended for girls, students of Nis high schools.

The following day, on Friday 24 October at noon in Media Centre in Nis, a debate takes place, titled “Networked in combat against human trafficking” and intended for institutions and organisations.
