Fifth edition of the European Film Festival, organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, EU Info Centre and eight partner cities, starts off Thursday, 12 May, at 19:30 at Novi Sad Cultural Centre.
This year, the Festival programme offers 18 of the latest European film productions and just as before, entrance is free to all projections.
For the first time, the Festival brings an entirely new concept by moving from Belgrade to eight other cities across Serbia. European Film Festival has two parts: the first, running from 12 May-7 July, and the other, scheduled for autumn.
First part of the Festival has been organised in Novi Sad, Nis, Sabac, Valjevo, Prijepolje, Negotin, Prokuplje and Uzice and the audiences there will enjoy films of the contemporary film production from Denmark, Portugal, Cyprus, Austria, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Belgium, Greece, France, Estonia, Croatia, Italy, the Netherlands and Serbia.
The honour to open the Festival in Novi Sad was given to Serbian film A Stinking Fairytale directed by Miroslav Momcilovic. Citizens of Novi Sad will enjoy the awarded films until 20 June when the Festival will move to Nis.
”Each of the films featured in the fifth edition of European Film Festival reflects the country of its origin in this way or another. I am very happy to know the Festival will once again show its creativity and rich diversity of European film production. This would not be possible if it were not for the commitment of EU Member States’ Embassies and their cultural institutions, as well as our EU Info Centre team,” said Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport.
