Upon entering the EU, Serbia will have at its disposal significant funds within European Social Fund, and it is important that administration, those who will be using the funds and participate in projects, is timely prepared in order to make the most of the funds, a conference, organised within European Commission’s TAIEX Programme, was told.

Structural EU funds, including the European Social Fund, are aimed, among other things, at influencing the economy development a country, said Head of Operations II of the EU Delegation to Serbia José Antonio Gomez Gomez at the conference “Preparations for European Social Fund”.

So far, the goal of the European Social Fund has been to employ as many people as possible and ensur better conditions for workers, said Gomez Gomez.

According to him, main objectives of the Fund from 2014-2020 are equal investments in all regions, shift the attention to growth sectors, economic and infrastructural projects, and stimul employment and social innovation.

European Social Fund will to help and address issues of young people, social challenges and imbalances, influence the workforce mobility, improve health at work, prevent and fight against poverty.

As for Serbia, it is important to set up relevant national plans and strategies aimed at reducing social exclusion and poverty, as well as to ensure their implementation, said Gomez Gomez.

Conference was organised within European Commission’s TAIEX Programme, as part of Serbia’s EU accession negotiations.
