Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi met in Belgrade today and announced that Zezelj Bridge in Novi Sad would be open for road traffic by the end of this week, with European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn present.

Fabrizi has stressed that EU has invested more than €30 million in construction works on the bridge and access roads, as this bridge serves to better connection within the region and contribute to further strengthening of economy and improvement of business activities in Serbia, Press office of the Serbian President said in a statement.

Vucic thanked European Union for great assistance in renovation works of Zezelj Bridge, but also for all donations contributing to strengthening of the Serbian society, especially in the field of economy.

Vucic and Fabrizi also discussed progress within the process of Serbia’s accession to EU, as well as a state of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

Vucic stressed that the EU accession process presents investment in peace, stability and comprehensive progress for Serbia and whole region.

Serbia is ready to work with EU on implementation of all obligations within the negotiating process, especially those that are part of the chapters 23 and 24, Vuci said, expressing hope that a dynamics of opening negotiating chapters would adequately follow results of reforms that Serbia has continuously been implementing, for example, justice reforms and preparations on media strategy.

Ahead of the next high level meeting within the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, scheduled for 7 September in Brussels, Vucic expressed readiness to continue, with European Union mediation, working on finding compromise solution which would enable lasting peace and stability in the region, the statement said.
