Winning cartoon titled Sisyphus by Jugoslav Vlahović “sends a clear message: it is true that for Serbia much work is ahead, but I really like he chose a diamond and not just any rock,” said Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport during the opening of the comic/strip art exhibition, and the announcement of winners of the Myths and Prejudices – How Serbia and EU View Each Other competition in the Knez Mihailova Street.

The competition was organised for the second year in a row by the EU Delegation to Serbia and the EU Info Centre on the occasion of Europe Day, and it “plays a major role in expressing an opinion about the EU integration,” said Davenport expressing his appreciation to competitors who have submitted 72 works during this year’s competition.

Vlado Trtić’s cartoon won second, whereas Špiro Radulović’s work won third prize. Apart from the awarded cartoons the Jury chose 14 more; total of 17 cartoon will be exhibited in front of the French Institute in Knez Mihailova Street until 11 May. Starting from 9 May, the works will be exhibited in Stadion Shopping Mall in Voždovac as well.

Jury consisted of famous cartoon and strip artists – Predrag Koraksić Corax, Marko Somborac, and Aleksandar Zograf – as well as Head of Information, Communication and Press the EU Delegation Ramūnas Janušauskas, Nataša Savić of European Integration Office, and Predrag Vujović of the EU Info Centre.

President of the Jury Predrag Koraksić Corax said the awarded works stood out because of their quality and the message they send, adding that by the time Serbia joined the EU,  this competition would have a long tradition, but will always remain a provocative topic for comic/strip artists.

On 16 May the exhibit is scheduled to open in Subotica; in June, the exhibit moves to Niš and Novi Sad.
