Statement by the Spokesperson of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on the killing of Mitrovica North councillor

The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:

“The High Representative deplores the killing of Dimitrije Janićijević, municipal councillor of Mitrovica North, in northern Kosovo overnight.

She extends her condolences to the family and friends of the victim.

The High Representative expects a swift investigation into the killing so that the perpetrators are brought to justice. Any use of violence is completely unacceptable.”
