The audience and the expert jury together chose the winners of the “Europe and I” competition, a part of the 11th edition of the European Diary. The competition attracted great interest this year as was the case in precious contests, and despite the challenging conditions of the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic, almost 200 works were sent.
This time, high school students from all over Serbia were most inspired by the topic of environmental protection, which showed how much they are interested in a greener future and the protection of clean air and water. Also, topics such as the fight against discrimination and the perception of relations between Serbia and the EU show that young people are very active in following social trends. These topics are also covered in detail in this year’s edition of the European Diary.
For the first time, the public was able to vote for their favourites through the website evropskidnevnik.rs. Over 10,000 people decided to support some of the works, and many voted in more than one category, thus contributing to the competitive spirit, and they could see how high school students can be enterprising, how they can use advanced techniques and technologies in creating websites, apps, videos, or creative through blogs, photos, comics.
The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Ambassador Sem Fabrizi, also congratulated the winners. The year for us was challenging, he states, and adds that different ways of learning and socialising did not hinder the creative work of young people from Serbia, who offered their views on numerous issues.
“I invite you to continue to improve, both through continuing your education and through being active. Be curious and find out about today’s Europe, which is the home of all of us, and actively join its future “, says Ambassador Fabrizi.
In addition to the audience, the votes were awarded by a five-member expert jury, in the 50/50 relation. The members of the jury were a renowned cartoonist, a photographer, an RTS editor, a representative of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia and a representative of the EU Info Network.
