In celebration of 15th anniversary of EU development aid in Serbia, the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia and the EU Info Centre, in cooperation with Serbian European Integration Office, have organised a photo exhibition “EU and Serbia: 15 years of partnership,” now opened along the Sava Promenade.
Around 50 photos featured in the exhibition, running through 13 June, show the results of jointly implemented projects which support Serbia in implementing necessary reforms, becoming a full-fledged member of the EU and improving the standard of living for its citizens. The projects have been implemented in all sectors and all regions of Serbia, from north to south. Infrastructure, education, health and environmental protection are among the improved sectors. The exhibition “EU and Serbia: 15 years of partnership“ has been organised to showcase at least a part of the developed partnership.
Davenport: Delegation’s mandate is to support Serbia during accession process
“EU Delegation’s one and only mandate is to support Serbia’s accession efforts and we will continue to do so as partners as this is our top priority,” Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport said.
He said the EU has allocated some EUR3 billion in grants for Serbia.
“Our common vision is to see Serbia become a member of the EU and its citizens living in a developed country. Main goal of any project is to bring concrete benefits to citizens,” said Davenport.
Acting Director of Serbian European Integration Office Ksenija Milenkovic said the exhibition was a good way to show where the money went.
“As an EU candidate country, Serbia gains more and more access to funding aimed at sectoral projects,” said Ksenija Milenkovic and added she hoped that the EU support in Serbia would become more tangible.
The best way to step up progress in Serbia’s EU accession is to implement action plans for each of the negotiating chapters, Davenport told the press following the exhibition opening and added that “it is time to implement existing action plans.”

The event in Kalemegdan was opened by a performance of several parts of the play “Invisible City,” produced by DAH Theatre, and closed with Ambassador Davenport presenting awards to winners of the photo contest “Where I see EU in Serbia” organised by the EU Info Centre and EU Delegation to Serbia in celebration of 15th anniversary of EU development aid in Serbia.
