Swedish Diplomat Andreas von Beckerath officially assumed his duties as the new Ambassador of the European Union to Serbia today, following the presentation of his credentials to President Aleksandar Vučić.
Ambassador von Beckerath reaffirmed the European Union’s strong and long-standing commitment to Serbia’s path towards EU membership. He thanked the President and Serbian authorities for the warm reception and underlined his determination to fully support Serbia’s EU integration process.
“EU accession is a real opportunity for Serbia,” the Ambassador stated, expressing his intention to work in close partnership with all Serbian and international stakeholders to bring the country closer to the European Union.

Ambassador von Beckerath concluded by underlining the importance of accelerating reforms, assuring that the European Union will remain firmly by Serbia’s side, supporting the country’s EU-related transformation for the benefit of all its citizens.
