This year’s Europe Day was marked by a reception organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia at the “Madlena” Art Palace in Belgrade. In the presence of high-ranking state officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of civil society organizations, and the media, Europe Day was celebrated under the slogan “Serbia is Europe – Better Together“, in a year that marks the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundation for European unification.

“European Union was built on the vision of creating Europe through concrete achievements that would lead to genuine solidarity. That vision has become a reality. Thanks to EU enlargement, more and more people travel freely, economies grow, and new job opportunities are created. We are proud of the values on which the European Union is founded and we are determined to defend them,” said Ambassador Emanuele Giaufret in his opening remarks.

The Ambassador added that “The Union is based on democratic principles, the rule of law, protection and respect for human rights, and free and independent media, which are an invaluable asset for institutional accountability. Serbia is Europe, and we are better together” he said, adding that this was his last Europe Day as the EU Ambassador to Serbia, and that Belgrade had been his home for the past four years.

“For the past four years, I have lived among you, and that has made me a friend of Serbia. I have learned to appreciate your sense of community, I have made many friends, and I am grateful to everyone who made me feel welcome. Belgrade has been my home for four years, and Europe is our home forever” said Ambassador Emanuele Giaufret.

The Europe Day 2025 celebration continued with a full-day program on Saturday, May 10, from 11:00 to 19:00 at Silosi in Belgrade. The diverse program at Silosi included the exhibition “Serbia is Europe – We Are Better Together”, the interactive exhibition “Innovation on the Move”, mural painting on one of the silos, a music program, creative workshops for children and parents, workshops in the Pollinator Garden, and theater performances for children.

From May 15 to 30, the “Innovation on the Move” caravan will travel across Serbia, bringing the interactive exhibition to six cities – Novi Sad, Čačak, Kragujevac, Pančevo, Niš, and Novi Pazar. In each of these cities, demonstrators from the Center for the Promotion of Science (CPN) will present CERN’s exhibition. Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience virtual reality content, including European science films in VR and specially adapted VR content for children.
