The Delegation of the European Union in Serbia has launched the campaign “Serbia is Europe – Better Together” which will run until mid-June, with this year’s Europe Day – 9 May being celebrated under the same slogan. That Serbia is Europe will be affirmed by numerous events planned during the campaign, with the participation of ambassadors of EU Member States in Serbia.

The intention is to bring the idea of unity and togetherness closer to the citizens of Serbia, to highlight that we share similar values and aspirations, and to convey that the European Union cares equally for everyone – and that we are better together.

The campaign will use TV and radio spots, billboards, print, digital and social media, and various events and exhibitions throughout Serbia to show that Serbia and European Union share the same values. It will also demonstrate that the citizens of Serbia and other European countries respect their traditions and cultures and strive for a better future together.

Throughout May, the EU Delegation will organize events marking the 75th anniversary of Europe Day, aiming to bring the idea of equality, unity, and European values closer to Serbian citizens.

On 10 May , at Silosi in Belgrade, a public Europe Day event will take place. Emanuele Giaufret, EU Ambassador to Serbia, will deliver a welcome address to all those present. Polish artist Nespoon will paint a silo with motifs of traditional Serbian lacework – a form of handcraft that is a part of the urban folk costume of Vojvodina from the late 19 century, and which is featured in the permanent exhibition of the Etnographic Museum in Belgrade.

The programme will be opened by a performance from the “DFhor” choir led by Bojana Vunturišević, and a group (O)pusti Glas, which the held a singing workshop with the audience.

The exhibition “Serbia is Europe – Better Together,” through 22 panels, will demonstrate the shared values and show how Serbia’s cultural heritage and traditions are closely linked to those of European countries.

An immersive room will feature the virtual exhibition “Innovation on the Move,” where visitors can watch VR films from CERN, Europe’s largest nuclear research organization and EU scientific films. The youngest visitors will also be able to experience children’s films through virtual reality.

In the Honey Garden at Silosi, three “Life of Bees” workshops will be held, and the Jelenica Theater Ensemble will perform children’s play “Maja the Bee”.

Children and their parents will be able to participate in creative painting workshops.

From 15 to 30 May, the Europe Days Caravan will travel across Serbia – visiting Novi Sad, Čačak, Kragujevac, Pančevo, Niš, and Novi Pazar – presenting the “Innovation on the Move “ interactive exhibition. In each city, with participation from EU embassy representatives, the CERN virtual exhibition will be displayed. Immersive content will include VR films from CERN, EU scientific films and children can enjoy virtual experiences of animated films.
