This year, the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia is celebrating Europe Day with a caravan visiting cities across the country, featuring a mobile interactive exhibition called “Innovation on the Move.” The exhibition is open to the public and intended for all generations. Europe Day has already been marked in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Čačak, and Kragujevac, and on May 26, citizens of Pančevo also had the opportunity to experience virtual reality, enjoy the exhibition, and learn many fascinating facts at the Gallery of Contemporary Art at the Pančevo Cultural Center.

The interactive exhibition “Innovation on the Move” consists of two parts: a presentation by the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) and a virtual reality (VR) corner. The exhibition about CERN was created by the Center for the Promotion of Science, and young scientists and associates from the Center guided visitors through the interactive content, providing diverse information and many interesting insights. The exhibition creatively combines innovation, science, and art.

Nevena Stefanović, a Serbian language and literature teacher at the “Uroš Predić” Gymnasium, visited the exhibition with her students. “The exhibition offers various qualities, and above all, I experienced it as an excellent learning platform,” she said, adding that it is especially interesting that young scientists lead visitors through the exhibition. “What captures the students’ attention is having a guide who describes the story of great scientific achievements. The VR technology impressed me — this kind of approach allows for deeper engagement, which is very important because it helps maintain the attention of both students and other visitors,” said Professor Nevena Stefanović.

The youngest visitors particularly enjoyed the VR corner, which was created in collaboration with a multi-award-winning VR/XR producer from Estonia. Visitors experienced virtual reality and explored a captivating fusion of science, art and storytelling. Deep space, prehistoric caves, volcanoes, particles of physics, and children’s dreams are just some of the themes featured in the VR films. Two short CERN films, four European science films, and two children’s animated videos were presented.

The “Innovation on the Move” caravan continues its journey across Serbia and will visit Niš on May 27 and 28 at the Science and Technology Park NTP Niš, as well as Novi Pazar on May 29 and 30, where the Novi Pazar Cultural Center will host the exhibition.
