“Mobility for Everyone” is the slogan of this year’s European Mobility Week. The campaign in Serbia will officially open on Tuesday, 16 September at 10 a.m. at Europe House in Belgrade – and it will start on two wheels.

The focus of the day’s various activities will be to bring sustainable transport closer to children aged 7 to 12 and show that healthy habits and road safety are available to everyone.

The programme includes a conversation with the European Union Ambassador to Serbia, Andreas von Beckerath, on the importance of urban mobility; a digital cycling experience through European cities with the support of Olympian Ivan Stević; and an educational session on traffic safety. Outdoors, in front of Europe House, children will be able to ride on a fun cycling course and discover the innovative “Green Express” cargo bike – a solution for fast, environmentally friendly, zero-emission delivery.

European Mobility Week is the EU’s leading awareness-raising campaign on sustainable urban mobility, launched in 2002. Its goal is to inspire local authorities across Europe to introduce and promote sustainable modes of transport – walking, cycling and public transport – and make them accessible to all. This year, more than 1,300 cities and municipalities from 39 countries, including 15 in Serbia, are taking part. The theme “Mobility for Everyone” emphasises accessible, safe and inclusive transport options for all citizens.

The “EU for Green Agenda in Serbia” project, with the technical and financial support of the European Union and in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, is implemented by UNDP in cooperation with Sweden and the European Investment Bank (EIB), with additional funding provided by the governments of Sweden, Switzerland and Serbia.
