Final construction works of the new building of the Belgrade Faculty of Forestry, which is located on the mountain Goc, 30km west of Kraljevo and about 200km from Belgrade, is underway. On an area of 1,200 square meters on four floors – a brand new building intended for forestry students, high school students, researchers, as well as nature lovers was built. From the donation of European Union in the amount of one million EUR – about 800 thousand EUR have been invested in construction of new facilities, and approximately 200 thousand EUR for the purchase of furniture and modern scientific research equipment.
Teaching Complex on Goc, the popular “pyramid” was built 60 years ago and this is the first complete reconstruction of the object. Works are carried out within the project “Improvement of the infrastructure of higher education institutions in Serbia” (HETIP) to about 800 square meters and at about 400 square meters of accommodation and additional storage space.
At the site of the former building to accommodate “Studenac”, which was destroyed, have sprung up new accommodation facilities, a symbol of Goc hotel “Pyramid” with 11 rooms which is next to the villa “power” and “Planinka” for decades received thousands of students, scientists, high school environmentalists, researchers and tourists got a new look.
Works began in April 2013 and by the spring of 2015 it is planned to be completed by company “Zidar” from Negotin and to be handed over for the use by students and professors of the Faculty of Forestry.
From 2000 until today, the European Union has invested more than 64 million EUR in the education sector in Serbia.
