At the fair in EU Info Centre, 25 Civil Society Organisations are presented, in the project financially supported by EU Delegation to Serbia, US Agency for International Development in partnership with the Institute for Sustainable Communities with the support of the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society and Balkan Democracy Trust.
Opened today in Dom omladine, the Civil Society Organisations fair, which hosts 25 SCOs, is supported by Trag Foundation in the framework of the Civil Society for Active Communities project.
Organisations presented themselves to the attendees through photos, video material, promotional material, and hand crafts.
35th local level project
Among others, the fair hosts Novi Sad Cycling Initiative, Scout Group Bajina Bašta, Zaječar Youth Reaction, Putokaz association from Belgrade, Osmeh association from Pirot, etc.
Financially, this project was supported by EU Delegation to Serbia, US Agency for International Development in partnership with the Institute for Sustainable Communities with the support of the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society and Balkan Democracy Trust.
EU Info Centre and Dom omladine helped organise the fair.
Tanja Bjelanović, fund-raising and communications director of the Trag Foundation, said that 35 local level projects were supported within this project.
She said that 35 citizen associations have done important things in 29 local communities in 2013, and all of this was financed with RSD11,5 million.
The areas of concern were: ecology, regulation of public space, social inclusion of the young, sport promotion, etc.
Among other things, they have arranged several parks and playgrounds, as well as islands on the Rzav river, while the youngsters have cleaned the environment in Krupanj, Prijepolje, etc. Also, several theatre plays and public performances were organised.
Changing the environment
The expert in project management and monitoring within the Support to the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society of the Republic of Serbia project, Andreja Tonč, announced that on January 20th and 21st a conference which marks the beginning of creating the Strategic framework as well as the work on the Civil Society Strategy will take place.
She reminded that the EU is the biggest donor for the civil society in the whole world and this is best reflected through the number of grants.
Junior Advisor for monitoring of the needs of Civil Society Organisations of the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society of the Republic of Serbia, Tijana Rolović, said that the Office co-financed 12 projects, one of which is the Trag project.
She said that this Office supports civil society and citizen activism, and that the latter one is best seen in the example of active communities in small local communities which improve their environments and, by doing so, they influence the development of society.
