He emphasized that 2014 will be remembered as a special year during which the relations between Serbia and European Union were promoted and during which accession negotiations with Serbia were opened.

“This means that Serbia will, with its unique culture, enrich a common, colourful cultural heritage of all the Member States. Dance and music, presented at the Belgrade Dance Festival, are the essential part of our common European culture and an expression of its diversity and creativity.” Ambassador Davenport pointed out.

The catalogue of this year’s Belgrade Dance Festival programme was presented at the reception, which was attended by the Minister of Culture and Media, Ivan Tasovac, ambassadors and chargé d’affaires of EU, Canada and Turkey, as well as editors in chief of many Serbian media.

11th Belgrade Dance Festival will host some of the world’s most famous ballet and dance companies from the UK, Italy, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, USA, etc.

Belgrade Dance Festival, which became a global brand and occupies a prominent position among the best European and world festivals is supported by EU Delegation for the second time.

By organising this festival, Belgrade is once again in the centre of world’s dance scene, and as always, it will promote the values of European Union: multiculturalism, diversity, tolerance, and exchange of ideas among artists.

In 2006 UNESCO declared Belgrade Dance Festival a leading dance project in the Southeast region and the festival got admitted to the World Dance Alliance.
