“EU Spring School 2014” youth exchange has been successfully completed in Šuplja stena near Belgrade. Sixty young people from 12 countries, both EU Member States and the region, spent eight days (3-10 May) learning about the EU structure and institutions, youth engagement and active role in decision-making processes, as well as about the concept of European citizens’ activism.
During the exchange, the participants also talked about the EU enlargement, visited the EU Info Centre, and attended the scientific conference “Improving Serbia’s image during accession talks – Does lobbying help?” organised by the Faculty of Economics, Finance and Administration (FEFA) and the EU Delegation to Serbia on the occasion of the Europe Day.
Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Oskar Benedikt, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia Gordana Čomić and the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Serbia Laurent Louis Stokvis visited the EU Spring School and talked to participants about the European Union.
One of the goals of the youth exchange was also to provide young people with opportunities to develop new contacts and plan joint international projects in the future.
The project was funded within the framework of European Commission’s Youth in Action programme, with the support of the EU Delegation to Serbia, the EU Info Centre, Serbia’s European Integration Office, as well as the embassies of the Netherlands and Norway.
Activities of the Youth in Action programme, now combined into joint educational Erasmus Plus programme, offer the opportunities of non-formal education for young people and youth workers, with EU Spring School being one of those opportunities.
