The provision of grants to more than 250 micro and small enterprises in municipalities hardest affected by the floods is underway. The delivery of equipment and raw material for restoring of the income generation activities is being conducted at the moment. Within this lot, greenhouses will be delivered to the selected agriculture entrepreneurs, while equipment and raw material will be provided to the affected businesses.Panic family in Valjevo received new equipment for its restaurant.
When the River Kolubara flooded Valjevska Loznica in May 2014, the catering business of four-member Panić Family, in the lower level of their house, was highly affected. They couldn’t access the facility even with boats for days, so they used the reserves of water and food that they had at home. The donation through the European Union Assistance for Flood Relief in Serbia, two lower cabinets for the kitchen, 30 upholstered chairs, a professional electric grill, combined stoves, refrigerator, horizontal freezers, dishwashers and washing machines were provided to the Panić Family. Given the enormous damage to the facility the family received a building stimulation – 125 square metres of flooring material and 25 square metres of wall tiles, to equip the space in the restaurant.
So far, 93 houses in Obrenovac, Krupanj, Svilajnac, Varvarin, Paraćin, Gornji Milanovac, Bajina Bašta, Šid, Malo Crniće, Valjevo, Osečina, Smederevo, Smederevska Palanka, Požega, Loznica, Ruma and Mionica have been constructed, while 715 flood affected homes have been rehablitated in Obrenovac, Krupanj, Kraljevo, Lazarevac, Svilajnac, Trstenik, Varvarin, Valjevo, Mali Zvornik, Ljubovija, Šabac, Bajina Bašta, Šid, Loznica, Smederevska Palanka, Velika Plana, Čačak, Ub, Koceljeva, Jagodina and Paraćin. The construction works are in the finishing stage on some 30 family houses. This is the part of private housing reconstruction process for the total of some 950 in 30 municipalities funded through the European Union Assistance for Flood Relief in Serbia Programme which is well underway. Parallel to this, basic sets of furniture and home appliances are being deliviered to the flood affected families.
European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister and European Union Ambassador to Serbia Michael Davenport attended the opening of kindergarten “Dečja radost”, whose reconstruction following the May 2014 floods was financed by the European Union with approximately EUR 240.000.
