The European Union fully supports the process of creating a cleaner environment in Serbia, said Deputy Head of the EU Delegation Oscar Benedict at the opening of the fourth international eco fair, ECO EXPO 2014.
In the past ten years we have invested more that €700 million in processing power plants waste, installation of filters, and many other projects. We will continue doing so, said Benedict, who was awarded “Green Oscar” by the fair organisers for extraordinary contribution to preserving the environment in Serbia.
One of the main topics of this year’s fair is preserving the environment in the light of EU integration process, as well as the issues of sustainable development, energy efficiency and renewable energy resources.
By 2018 Serbia intends to finish adjusting the directives, legislation and standards in the area of environmental protection with those of EU, said Stana Božović leader of the Chapter 27 negotiating team that deals with the environment.
Taking place in Belgrade on March 20 to 21, the Fair introduces Eco Conference, aimed at encouraging exchange of opinions of the most advanced topics in the areas of energetics and environmental protection.
