On 20th May 2015, the representatives Housing Center will ceremonially open the construction site for 10 prefabricated housing units, marking the formal commencement of the construction process.

Prefabricated housing units will be constructed within the project “Support to the improvement of living conditions of forced migrants and closure of collective centers“, financed by the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia from IPA 2012 pre-accession funds, and financial contribution of Housing Center. The project aims at enhancing social inclusion of socially vulnerable persons and families of refugees, internally displaced persons and returnees based on the Readmission Agreement accommodated in collective centers in the Municipality of Bujanovac.

017

In addition to the construction of prefabricated houses, the project implemented by NGO Housing Center, in partnership with the Initiative for Development and Cooperation – IDC, will provide assistance to the beneficiaries throughout the process of obtaining all necessary permits and administrative procedures related to the connection of houses to infrastructure. Families from the collective centers in the Municipality of Bujanovac, which own a plot suitable for the construction of a residential house, will obtain permanent ownership over the constructed houses. Beneficiary families included in the project cover the costs of land, issuance of the location conditions and building permits, as well as the costs of connecting the house to the infrastructure, from their own budget. Once the units have been constructed and beneficiary families have moved in, the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration in cooperation with the NGO Housing Center and the Initiative for Development and Cooperation IDC will provide support in the process of their social integration.

004

The beneficiaries and future owners will be socially vulnerable families, out of which 8 families are from the Collective Center “Salvatore” and 2 families are from the Collective Center “Stara ciglana” in the Municipality of Bujanovac. Once the housing units have been constructed, the total of 10 households will be provided with the conditions for a decent life. The houses will be equipped with basic furniture and appliances.
