A group of students from Karlovac High School, which takes part in media literacy campaign for high school students If You Have Something to Say – Say It, visited Radio 021 in Novi Sad on 10 October.
“Even though I expected something similar, what left the biggest impression on me was the fact that local crime news is the most read and listened, particularly headlines such as “doctor jumps off the bridge after patient’s death” or “peer fistfight results in ruptured spleen,” student Andrijana Petrovic recounts.
Krajnovic spoke about editor’s role and place within editorial office and the importance of music for radio programme. “Editor was amazing. He was relaxed while speaking about his and his colleagues’ jobs. I was shocked to learn the price of copyrights. We often forget about such things,” Simona Bekic shared her impressions of the visit.
Participants in the media literacy campaign took part in it through their mini-project of creating the school web-site. Group of boys and girls, through their computer and journalism workshop, want this web-site to be a place for peer discussion about modern age media and media literacy.
Campaign “If You Have Something to Say – Say It” is participated in by Karlovac High School, Economy and Trading School in Paracin and Third Belgrade High School, while EU Delegation to Serbia and Ministry of Culture and Information are in charge of implementation within project Strengthening Media Literacy.
