During the talks with head of the Delegation of the European Union in Serbia Sem Fabrizi, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić said that the Ministry of Justice and the Serbian government are committed to working on the completion of a new text of constitutional amendments and harmonisation with the recommendations of the Venice Commission.

Brnabić said that the government representatives have been working intensively on this important task in the past, adding she believed the text will be finalised and submitted to the National Assembly for adoption shortly.

The head of the Delegation of the European Union assessed that progress in the field of judicial reform and the rule of law, as well as the implementation of all obligations in the negotiation process from chapters 23 and 24, has been crucial for Serbia.

In regard to adoption of the media strategy, the Prime Minister said a continuous dialogue has been led between the government and representatives of media associations.

She said the media strategy expected to be adopted should enable and guarantee safety for media representatives and their right to work undisturbed while respecting the law.

Brnabic and Fabrizi also discussed the situation in the Western Balkan region and dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

The Prime Minister reiterated that Serbia was ready to find a compromise solution, but expressed dissatisfaction with Pristina’s failure to work to implement the agreement, primarily in regard to the issue of the Community of Serb Municipalities as the backbone of the Brussels Agreement.

During the meeting, it was announced that the Zezelj Bridge in Novi Sad will be opened for traffic at the end of the week, in the presence of European Commissioner for Enlargement Negotiations and Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn.

The European Union has invested more than 30 million euros in the construction of this bridge.

The Prime Minister expressed her gratitude for the EU financial support, adding that she expected the reconstructed bridge to contribute to the strengthening of the Serbian economy.
