Annual Progress report on Serbia in the process of European integration was presented in Nis and was followed by debate on accession process as well as the issues and challenges along this way. The presentation was organised by EU Info Point Nis and hosted by the City Hall.

Deputy Head of the Delegation of European Union to Serbia Oskar Benedikt presented the Annual Progress Report, while keynote speakers prior to discussion were Bojan Avramovic, Director of the Regional Development Agency “South”, Igor Mladenović, Professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Nis and President of Industrial and Economic Council of the City of Nis, and Zoran Radivojević Professor of the Faculty of Law at the University of Nis.

Conference,  opened by the Mayor of Nis Zoran Perisic, offered information about the accession process and problems faced by local administrations when drafting projects in line with EU format, as well as the main challenges faced by the City of Nis and other municipalities in Southern Serbia on their path toward EU.

Over 50 representatives of local governments, institutions and civil society organisations attended the conference.

During his visit to Nis, Benedikt met representatives of youth non-governmental organisations as well as the Mayor of Nis. He also opened the cartoon/art exibition of the most successful works submitted within the “Myths and Prejudices” competition that the EU Delegation to Serbia organised in May on the occasion of the Europe Day.
