Is your organisation working in support of Roma people? Do you have successful projects you are proud of as they are making a real change?

‘The governments in the Western Balkans and Turkey need to step up their efforts to close the socio-economical gap between the Roma and the non-Roma population. The role of civil society organisations is hereby critical in linking the needs of the people to the policies of the state.’

Christian Danielsson, Director General for Enlargement, European Commission

With the Award for Roma Integration, the European Commission wishes to honour the commitment of civil society organisations in assisting the integration of Roma communities across the Western Balkans and Turkey, and to give visibility to best practices and ideas.

The winning projects will have to demonstrate an original approach, offering holistic, sustainable solutions for overcoming the existing social gaps between the majority communities and the Roma population. Applications are accepted from EU and non-EU funded projects as well as non-funded initiatives.

Civil society organisations from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey and Kosovo may apply.

The best project from each country will be awarded with a prize of €14,000. The winners together with the 2nd and 3rd placed from each country will be invited for a study visit to Brussels!
