European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos STYLIANIDES will visit Serbia on 8 and 9 October where he will meet Serbian officials and visit the Migrant Reception Centre in Obrenovac, to meet with refugees and see the progress of infrastructure rehabilitation works and relief efforts financed by the European Union.

On Monday, Commissioner Stylianides will meet President Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic, and attend a session of the Working Group for Migration, chaired by its coordinator Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin.

Ahead of the visit, Commissioner Stylianides said: “Serbia is a key partner of the European Union in addressing the unprecedented refugee and migrant crisis that we have jointly faced from 2015. The EU has been committed to supporting Serbia since the beginning and we will continue to do so. This will be my second visit to the country this year, and like on the previous occasion, I want to personally express my support and appreciation to the people and government of Serbia”.
